Daily Bangla Times: State Minister for Water Resources Colonel (Retd) Zahid Faruk said that a letter will be sent to the government of India seeking details regarding the digging of two more canals under the Teesta Barrage Project. The minister said this while addressing reporters at foreign ministry on Thursday (March 16).

He said we have noticed the news regarding the digging of two more canals by the Irrigation Department of the Government of West Bengal. We will send a letter to India seeking details in this regard.

I will sign latter in this regard. Later, the letter will be sent to India, he added.

On 4 March, Indian newspaper The Telegraph reported the transfer of 1,000 acres of land to the irrigation ministry of West Bengal to excavate two new canals for withdrawing water from the Teesta and the Jaldhaka.
