Hajj formalities begin

Millions of people have already arrived in Mecca, Saudi Arabia for the purpose of performing the holy Hajj. The activities of the holy Hajj started today, Friday (June 14). The main activities of Hajj will begin with the journey to the minaret.

Pilgrims will stay in Mina premises till Saturday morning as part of the Hajj activities. There they will spend their time in prayer in the hope of gaining closeness to Allah Almighty. They will pray the five times with Jamaat.

Later, on Wednesday morning, the pilgrims will start their journey to Arafat field where the devotees will stay and pay attention to the sermon. Saudi officials said they expect the number of pilgrims this year to be higher than last year. Over 18 lakh people gathered in the country to perform Hajj in 2023. Before the Coronavirus pandemic, more than 24 lakh Muslims participated in Hajj in 2019.
