Train rams truck in Feni: Death toll rises to 6

The death toll from the accident where a train rammed a sand-laden truck in Feni has risen to six after four more succumbed to their injuries. The accident took place around 8:20 am on Friday at a railway crossing near Muhuriganj bridge under Chhagalnaiya upazila.

The deceased were identified as Abul Khair, 40, Ashik, 14, Rifat, 14, Sazzad, 16, Din Mohammad, and truck driver Mizanur Rahman, 32.

Police and eyewitnesses said a Chattogram-bound train hit a sand-laden truck in the morning while the truck was crossing the railway crossing, leaving two people dead on the spot.

Later, four more people succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment at different hospitals in Feni and Chattogram, said Shah Alam, assistant sub-inspector of Feni Railway Police.

Feni superintendent of police Zakir Hasan said the gate-man was absent during the accident. Legal action would be taken in this regard, he added.
