Petrol, diesel prices likely to fall this month

Prices of fuel oils including diesel and petrol are likely to go down this month of March on the basis of prices prevailing in the international market, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid has said.

He said the government will adjust fuel price in every month from the current month on the basis of fuel price in global market.

"We want to adjust fuel price every month after receiving approval from the prime minister. If we can begin price adjustment from current month, fuel price may go down this month on the basis of global market," he told journalists at the Secretariat in the capital on Sunday (March 3, 2024).

Asked which oil price may go down, Nasrul said the government's main target is to reduce price of diesel as it is widely used fuel for different purposes including transport sector.

He said the adjustment of fuel price will have impact on its users including transport sector.
