Ive not committed any crime, no reason to be afraid: Dr Muhammad Yunus

Dr Muhammad Yunus, who appeared before the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) office on Thursday, said, "I've nothing to say.""I came here as they called me. I have nothing to say. I have not committed any crime, there is no reason to be afraid," Dr Yunus said while facing journalists coming out from ACC office after around two hours.

Deputy director of the ACC Gulshan Anwar quizzed Yunus in a case filed over alleged misappropriation of Tk 25.22 crore from Grameen Telecom’s Workers’ Profit Participation Fund (WPPF).

Prof Yunus, the chairman of Grameen Telecom, alongwith his lawyers and two officials entered the ACC office in the capital at 9:37am on Thursday.

He said, "As it is a legal matter. My lawyer will explain it to you." At that time, Barrister Abdullah Al Mamun said, "This case is false, baseless and fictitious. It has no legal basis.""My client was not involved in any irregularities involving Grameen Telecom’s Workers’ Profit Participation Fund."

Al Mamun said that the former employees and workers of Grameen Telecom were paid the dividends in line with the rule.
