Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has submitted a supplementary chargesheet against 16 people including Luxmipur-1 constituency's former MP and Islami Ganatantrik Party chairman MA Awal in a murder case filed over killing businessman Shahin Uddin at Pallabi in the capital in front of the victim's son. The court set October 12 for the trial of the case.

On Sunday (September 17), PBI police inspector Monir Hossain submitted the chargesheet to the general registration section of the Dhaka's Chief Metropolitan Court of Pallabi Police Station.

According to the chargesheet, MA Awal gave Tk 20,000 to accused Sumon Bepari to sever the limbs of Shahin Uddin. After that, Sumon and TT Sheikh alias Titu discussed about the murder. They, later, hacked Shahin to death in a broad a light in front of victim's 7-year-old child with the help of other accused.

Other accused of the case are Abu Taher, Murad, Golam Kibria Khan, Ibrahim Sumon alias Bawa Sumon, Shafiqul Islam alias Shafique, Rocky Talukder alias Rocky, Noor Mohammad Hasan, Iqbal Hossain, Sharif, Toriqul Islam Emon, Tuhin Mia, Harun-ar-Rashid alias Harun and Protik Ahmed Sajib.

On May 12, 2022, a court accepted Shahin Uddin's mother's plea of no confidence (naraji petition). At the same time, the court directed the PBI to investigate the case once again and submit the inquiry report.

In February this year, investigation officer of the case DB police inspector Syed Iftekhar Hossain submitted chargesheet against 15 people including Luxmipur-1 constituency's former MP and Islami Ganatantrik Party chairman MA Awal.

Other accused are Sumon Bepari, Titu, Kibria, Murad Hossain, Abu Taher, Ibrahim Sumon, Rocky Talukder, Shafiqul Islam alias Shafique,  Tuhin Mia, Harun-ar-Rashid alias Harun, Rocky Talukder alias Rocky, Noor Mohammad Hasan, Iqbal Hossain, Sharif, Toriqul Islam Emon. Except Sumon and Shafiqul, the rest 13 accused are now in jail. Of them, nine gave confessional statements to court under Section 164..

Following the murder of Shahin Uddin on May 16, 2021, his mother Aklima Begum filed a murder case against 20 people including former MP Awal at Pallabi Police Station.

Shahin Uddin was brutally hacked to death over a long-standing land dispute in broad daylight on May 16, 2021, in front of his six-year old son at Ceramics Road of Mirpur-12.

Former MP Awal also formed a political alliance called 'Pragatishil Islami Jote' to contest in the next national election. The alliance want to back the government. Awal is the chairman of the alliance.
