Queue at metro rail station grows with 5 ticket machines out of order

Daily Bangla time: Passengers say they came from far away and have been waiting in line for time periods ranging from 30 minutes to 3 hours.

Long queues of passengers eager to ride the metro trains have been forming since Friday morning, the second day of the sale of tickets for the Uttara-Agargaon section.

Officials at the Uttara station said they were struggling to cope with the pressure as five out of six of the ticket machines were out of order, adding that another was working every now and then.

A limited number of people were being allowed into the station with two out of four gates being closed, and Ansar personnel on duty there said it had been done to ensure that the size of the crowd inside would be manageable.

Some of the passengers said they had come from far away braving the biting cold and had been waiting in line for time periods ranging from 30 minutes to 3 hours.
