Daily Bangla Times: Three people, including a policeman, were killed and five others injured in two separate road accidents on the Dhaka-Bhanga Expressway in Munshiganj on Sunday morning. The accidents took place at around 5am and 9am of Sunday morning on the highway.
The deceased policeman was identified as Motaleb, an on-duty traffic police of the highway while the details of two other deceased could not be known immediately.
According to witnesses, a speeding Shariatpur- bound mini-bus ran over Motaleb and a woman at around 5am when they were standing on a crossing of the highway, leaving the woman dead on the spot and four others, including the cop, critically injured.
The injured were taken to Sreenagar Upazila Health Complex where Motaleb succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment. Being informed, police rushed to the spot and seized the minibus, however, its driver managed to flee from the scene, said Padma Bridge North Police Station officer-in-charge Alamgir Hossain.
Meanwhile, another person was killed and two others were injured as a speeding pickup van hit a stationary covered van from its behind around 9 am on the expressway.
The injured two were taken to the upazila health complex first and then they were referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Kamlesh Bagchi, the on-duty doctor of Sreenagar Upazila Health Complex confirmed the death matter.
