After almost two weeks of severe heatwave, finally rain poured down in different upazilas of Sylhet. It started raining in Companiganj upazila around 8:50pm last night. Later around 10:00pm, there was a hailstorm in the upazila, reports our Sylhet correspondent.

At the same time, it rained in Zakiganj, Beanibazar, Jaintiapur upazilas, several locals confirmed. Besides, stormy and cold winds were also blowing across Sylhet city and its surroundings.

Earlier in the evening, the bulletin issued by the Meteorological Department in Sylhet said the possibility of rain at night.Shah Mohammad Sajib Hossain, assistant meteorologist of the office, said, "According to our forecast, rain has started in some areas of Sylhet. Rainfall is also likely in the city and nearby areas."

Meanwhile around 10:10pm, a Bangladesh Biman flight was hit by stormy winds while landing at Sylhet Osmani International Airport.Airport manager Hafiz Ahmad said, "A domestic flight of Bangladesh Biman from Dhaka was hit by stormy winds while landing at Sylhet airport. After failing to land on the first attempt, it landed safely on the second attempt. He said, "The flight is waiting to depart for Dhaka, but it is being delayed due to stormy winds."
