Daily Bangla Times: The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) passed a resolution on Thursday demanding Moscow to withdraw its troops from Ukraine and end the fighting.
Bangladesh abstained from voting at its 11th emergency special session. A total of 141 member states voted in favour of the resolution and seven -- Belarus, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Eritrea, Mali, Nicaragua, Russia and Syria – voted against.
Among the 32 abstentions were Bangladesh, China, India, Iran and Pakistan.
The resolution urged a “comprehensive, just and lasting peace” that it said “would constitute a significant contribution to strengthening international peace and security” and reaffirmed Ukraine’s independence and territorial integrity.
Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba welcomed the adoption of the resolution.
Writing on social media, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the resolution was a “powerful signal of unflagging global support for Ukraine”.
