BD Correspondent: A case has been filed against BNP candidate for Patuakhali-3 (Golachipa-Dashmina) constituency Golam Maula Rony and five others under the Digital Security Act on charge of 'faking' an attack on the vehicle of his wife.

Mehedi Masud, an associate professor of Golachipa Mohila College and joint convener of Awami League's Patuakhali-3 election conducting committee, filed the case with Golachipa Police Station on Thursday night.

The five other accused are Rony's bother Sarwar, brother-in-law Makbul, BNP leader Shahjahan Khan, his son Shiplu Khan and Shah Alam Shanu.

In his complaint, Masud claimed that Rony and others faked an attack on the vehicle of the BNP contestants' wife Kamrunnhar Runu in Madina Masjid area of Golachipa upazila on December 15.

They also spread false information about the incident in a bid to 'deteriorate' the law and order, he alleged.

Contacted, Rony said although his wife's vehicle came under attack, police did not record any case over it. ‘Instead, a false was filed against us.’
