BD Correspondent: Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Sunday alleged that its chairperson Khaleda Zia's nomination paper had been cancelled as part of government blueprint to hold a 'lopsided' election.
‘We think, it's an ill-motivated decision. Our leader's (Khaleda Zia) nomination papers have been rejected as part of government's master plan and a blueprint to keep her away from the election,’ said BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
Speaking at a press conference at BNP Naya Paltan central office, he also alleged their party's some other popular candidate nomination papers were also annulled as the government was trying to hold a unilateral election and stay in power by force.
The Election Commission on Sunday rejected the nomination papers of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia for contesting the parliamentary election from Feni-1 constituency due to her conviction in two corruption cases.
