Gold prices hit record high


The price of gold has increased again in the local market. The price of good quality (22-carat) gold has increased by Tk 2,217 per bhori to  Tk 1,12, 908.


The new price of gold was decided in the meeting of Bangladesh Jewelery Association (BAJUS) Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring on Wednesday. Later this information was informed in a press release signed by the chairman of the committee, Masudur Rahman.



It said Bajus has decided on the new price of gold, which will be effective from Thursday (March 7), because of the overall situation due to the increase in the price of acidic gold in the local market.



According to the adjusted prices, now one will have to spend Tk 1,07,776 for per bhori of 21-carat gold; Tk 92,379 for 18-carat gold. The price of traditional gold has increased to Tk 76,983.



Earlier, Bajus had announced to increase in the price of gold in the country on January 17. Then the best quality gold was increased by 1,400 taka to Tk 1,12,441. However, the next day on January 18, the price of the best quality gold was reduced by Tk 1,750 to Tk 1,10,691.
