20 more dengue patients die in a day

The dengue situation in the country has taken a devastating turn with the death of twenty more patients in the last 24 hours till Saturday morning. With the latest death, the causalities from this mosquito-borne disease rose to 1,246 this year. According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) some 1,889 were hospitalized with the viral fever during the period. It said, some 8,114 people diagnosed with the fever are taking treatment at different government and private hospitals across the country.

As many as 2,52,990 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country since January 1 this year. Some 2,43,630 out of the hospitalized patients, however, recovered during the period.Dhaka and Chattogram divisions have the highest number of dengue cases. Meanwhile, the country recorded 281 dengue deaths in 2022 and 179 deaths in 2019. Additionally, the DGHS recorded 62,423 dengue cases and 61,971 recoveries last year.
