 Daily Bangla Times: Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the largest religious festivals of the Muslims, will be celebrated in Bangladesh on Saturday as the moon of Shawal  month was sighted in Bangladesh sky on Friday.

National Moon Sighting Committee took the decision at a meeting held at the Islamic Foundation's Baitul Mukarram office on Friday evening after reviewing information of the Shawal  moon sighting.

State Minister for Religious Affairs Md Faridul Haque Khan presided over the meeting.Responding to the call of roots, thousands of people have already left the capital for their village homes to celebrate Eid with their loved ones.

The main Eid-ul-Fitr congregation will be held at the Jatiya Eidgah in the capital.In case of inclement weather, the main congregation will be held at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.


The country's largest Eid congregation is likely to be held at Sholakia Eidgah in Kishoreganj.On the Eid day, the national flag will be hoisted atop public and private buildings.


President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have greeted the countrymen as well as the Muslims across the world on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr.


They have issued separate messages praying for continued peace, progress and prosperity of the country, the Muslim Ummah, interfaith harmony and global peace.
